The Colombo District Court has extended the court order preventing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Executive Committee from ousting members Mahinda Amaraweera, Duminda Dissanayake, and Lasantha Alagiyawanna from their party positions.
The interim injunction, extended until May 8, follows a plaint filed by the three MPs. Former President Maithripala Sirisena and Acting General Secretary Sarathi Dushmantha Mithrapala are named as respondents in the plaints. The decision to remove the trio from their positions in the party was made during a special party meeting on March 30, prompting legal action.
Amidst the controversy, SLFP appointed new officials to fill the vacant positions, with the decision communicated during a special party meeting convened by former President Sirisena.
