Meanwhile. Colombo District Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake has also been appointed as the Assistant Leader of the party. The decisions have been made at the UNP Working Committee which met at Party headquarters 'Sirikotha' this afternoon. 

 

UNP National Lsit Parliamentarian Eran Wickremaratne has been appointed as the Treasurer of the United National Party. Moneragala District MP Ranjith Maddumabandara has been appointed as the Senior Deputy Chairman of the UNP while Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has been appointed as the Deputy General Secretary. 

 

Rathnapura District MP Thalatha Athukorala has been appointed as the Secretary of election affairs while former Parliamentarian Harin Fernando's name has been proposed as the head of the Youth Front of the party. A final decision on Fernando's appointment as the head of the youth wing will be made most probably at the next Working Committee meeting, a party spokesman told 'Asian Mirror'.

 

This was the second time Premadasa was appointed as the Deputy Leader of the party. He lost his deputy leader position previously when he unsuccessfully challenged opposition leader Ranil Wcickremesinghe's group at the UNP leadership election in December 2011.
