Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has announced the release of government employees' April salaries, including the remaining Rs. 5,000 of the increased Rs. 10,000 allowance.
This move follows the earlier disbursement of the first portion of the allowance. The total festival advance for New Year's reached nearly Rs. 6 billion, already paid out by the government.
Traditionally, salaries are distributed starting from the 16th of each month, with priority given to teachers, followed by tri-forces and provincial council employees. However, in light of the New Year, April's salaries will be paid on April 10. Siyambalapitiya stated that the total amount to be disbursed, including the remaining allowance, totals Rs. 107 billion, with an additional Rs. 13 billion allocated for this month beyond regular salaries.
Pensioners have already received nearly Rs. 28 billion. The State Finance Minister assured that other welfare allowances for April will be promptly delivered without delay.
