Victoria Tkacheva, Russian girlfriend of the British tourist, who was killed at a holiday resort in Tangalle, will be attending the Colombo High Court case today.
Initial media reports claimed that she was gang-raped after the British tourist was killed by a group, allegedly led by Tangalle PS Chairman.
The case drew the attention of international media to a great extent and the matter was raised by British Prime Minister David Cameron when he visited Sri Lanka for Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting.
Six men accused of murdering the from Greater Manchester, including the Tangalle PS Chairman, will go on trial today. Khuram Shaikh, a Red Cross worker from Rochdale, was killed on Christmas Day 2011 whilst on holiday.
Shaikh, 32, had been working in Gaza fitting prosthetic limbs, but was on holiday in the resort of Tangalle when he was shot and stabbed.
