One person has been reported dead, and 37 others injured in a bus accident at Peradeniya.

The accident occurred last evening as the bus, carrying devotees returning from the Nelligala International Buddhist Center, veered off the road and crashed into a tree in Yahalatenna.

The driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the tragic incident. The deceased, a 79-year-old resident of Halpola, Pundaluoya, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Peradeniya Hospital. Two critically injured passengers have been transferred to Kandy General Hospital. Peradeniya Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
