The Board of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially approved the qualification process for the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup, slated to be co-hosted by Sri Lanka and India in 2026. Following a meeting held in Dubai, the ICC confirmed that both nations will serve as joint hosts for the 10th edition of the tournament.

The event will feature 12 automatic qualifiers, including the host countries and the top 8 teams from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. In a bid to ensure a competitive mix, additional teams will qualify based on ICC T20I team rankings as of June 30, 2024, while the remaining slots will be filled through Regional Qualifiers. With the tournament set to accommodate 20 teams, mirroring the format of the upcoming 2024 edition, the ICC aims to maintain the inclusivity and excitement of cricket on a global scale.

Additionally, the ICC has confirmed the inclusion of reserve days for the semi-finals and finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, emphasizing fair play and weather contingencies in the knockout stages.
