The Seychelles Coast Guard has successfully rescued the fishing vessel 'Lorenzo Putha 4', which was previously lost in the Arabian Sea after being hijacked by Somali pirates. The news was officially communicated to Sagala Ratnayaka, the National Security Advisor and Chief of Staff to the President, marking a moment of relief and triumph in the maritime domain.
The 'Lorenzo Putha 4', a multi-day fishing vessel, embarked on its maiden voyage from the Dikovita fishing harbor on January 12, carrying a crew of six fishermen. However, the vessel's journey took an unexpected turn when it fell victim to piracy in the treacherous waters of the Arabian Sea, approximately 1,160 nautical miles from land.
Following the alarming disappearance of the vessel, the Sri Lankan Navy swiftly mobilized efforts to locate and retrieve the hijacked fishing vessel. In a bid to harness international support and resources, Sri Lankan authorities promptly informed the Combined Maritime Force, a coalition of 40 countries headquartered in Bahrain, about the missing vessel.
Amidst mounting concerns and collaborative efforts to address the crisis, the Seychelles Coast Guard launched a specialized operation to track down the 'Lorenzo Putha 4'
