A high-profile delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Senior Mission Chief Peter Breuer, engaged in fruitful discussions with Sri Lanka's Ministry of Power and Energy officials yesterday. The meeting centered around the extensive reforms implemented by the government in the Electricity and Energy sectors.
The IMF delegation, which included key officials, held detailed talks on a range of crucial topics with senior ministry representatives, including Minister Kanchana Wijesekera. The primary areas of focus included the implementation of cost-reflective fuel pricing formulas, electricity tariffs, tariff revisions, forensic audits, balance sheets, and the potential impact of taxes on the sector.
