, Dr. Harsha de Silva, Member of Parliament from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), has vowed to repeal the contentious Online Safety Bill should a future SJB-led government come to power.

Dr. de Silva expressed strong opposition to the government's move to enact the bill, citing concerns over its potential impact on crucial ties with major online platforms such as Meta, Google, and YouTube, which he deems essential for Sri Lanka's economic growth.

Dr. de Silva, a prominent figure within the SJB, took to social media to voice his strong opposition to the government's Online Safety Bill.

In his statement, he pledged that, if passed, a future SJB-led government would swiftly repeal the controversial legislation.
