Prabhath Chandrakeerthi, a distinguished special grade officer in the Sri Lankan Administrative Service, has been named the Secretary to the Ministry of Environment. Chandrakeerthi, known for his extensive experience in public administration, previously served as the Labor Commissioner General, contributing nearly 24 years to the public service.
A former student of Ananda and Badulla Maha Vidyalaya in Colombo, Chandrakeerthi boasts an impressive academic background. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sri Jayawardenepura in 1998, followed by a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Kelaniya in 2008. In 2014, he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka and was subsequently sworn in as a lawyer in 2017.
Throughout his career, Chandrakeerthi has held various key positions, showcasing his versatility and dedication to public service. He has served as the Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Education of the Uva Provincial Council and the Assistant Divisional Secretary of Biyagama. His roles also include serving as the Assistant Secretary of the Office of the Speaker of the Parliament/Senior Assistant Secretary and as the Director General of the Coastal Conservation Department.
