Amita Bandara, the organizer of Samagi Jana Balawega in Polgahawela, was apprehended by the police in Rambukkana yesterday on charges of possessing more than a kilogram of heroin.

Law enforcement authorities acted on a tip and conducted a targeted operation leading to the arrest of Bandara, who is now facing serious allegations related to drug trafficking. The arrest has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, as Bandara is associated with the Samagi Jana Balawega (SJB) party.

During a press conference held by the SJB today, Member of Parliament Hector Appuhami addressed the issue candidly. Appuhami, a prominent figure within the party, acknowledged the arrest and commended it as a "good deed."
