Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera visited the System Control Room of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) on Monday, following the Islandwide Blackout that occurred during the weekend. The purpose of the visit was to engage with System Control engineers and officials to discuss the causes and reasons behind the widespread power outage.
During the meeting, System Control engineers and officials provided a detailed presentation on the events leading up to the blackout and the subsequent steps taken to restore power across the island.
Minister Wijesekera emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation to determine and verify the exact reasons for the blackout.
In a statement, Minister Wijesekera said, "Investigations are ongoing to determine and verify the exact reasons for the blackout. Instructions were given to CEB management to implement the recommendations from system control and investigations to avoid future blackouts."
