Sports Minister Harin Fernando announced today that he has signed a gazette to revoke the decision appointing an interim committee for Sri Lanka Cricket, with the ultimate goal of lifting the suspension imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The decision to revoke the interim committee is seen as a move to restore stability and governance to Sri Lanka Cricket, which has been grappling with internal issues and has faced the repercussions of the ICC suspension. Minister Fernando emphasized the need for a systematic and transparent approach to cricket administration, aiming to put an end to the uncertainties surrounding the sport in the country.
Furthermore, Minister Fernando revealed that he has written to the ICC, seeking their observations on the recent Auditor General's report on Sri Lanka Cricket. The Auditor General's report is expected to shed light on financial and administrative aspects of SLC, providing critical insights for the government to address any irregularities and improve the overall management of cricket affairs.
In a parallel effort, the Sports Minister has also reached out to the Auditor General's department, indicating his intention to collaborate and take necessary actions based on their findings.
