Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in Sri Lanka against Roshan Ranasinghe MP. The complaint revolves around the purported misuse of funds allocated by SLC to the National Sports Fund for the development of various sports in Sri Lanka.
According to the SLC, the decision to file the complaint was made due to concerns raised by SLC regarding the alleged lack of appropriate disclosure by Mr. Roshan Ranasinghe MP regarding the utilization of funds intended for specific sports development purposes.
The SLC, in its complaint, states the importance of financial transparency and accountability, particularly in the context of sports administration where funds play a crucial role in the growth and development of various sporting disciplines.
According to the SLC, the complaint stems from a noticeable inconsistency between the information disseminated to the media by Ranasinghe MP and the response obtained by SLC through a Right to Information (RTI) application. The RTI application sought details on the expenditures made with the funds provided by SLC to the National Sports Fund.
SLC, in emphasizing the need for integrity in financial transactions, has stated that it is imperative for funds to be used for their designated purposes.
