President Mahinda Rajapaksa announced the reduction of fuel prices and electricity tariff effective from tonight a short while ago.

Accordingly, price of a liter of petrol will be reduced by Rs 5 and the price of a diesel liter is reduced by Rs 3. Meanwhile, the price of kerosene was reduced by Rs 20 per liter.

Meanwhile, the electricity tariff was reduced by 25 percent.

The President made this announcement while speaking at the commissioning of the third phase of Norochcholai Lakvijaya coal power plant, which took place at the Presidential Secretariat. The President of China, Xi Jinping, was also present at the event.
