Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities and National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader Wimal Weerawansa said he was on a collision course with the government until the ruling party accepted the 12 proposals presented by him.
Speaking at a political rally in Passara the NFF Leader said that he brought forward the twelve propositions in order to push the government towards what he termed as the "right path" for the wellbeing of the people of the country.The proposals were handed over t President Mahinda Rajapaksa by a National Freedom Front delegation at Temple Trees subsequent to the national convention of the party.

“We have become 'goriyakarawana raalas' of the government. We are the only party in the ruling camp who are willing to raise our on behalf of for the people”, he said.
Weerawansa noted that one of the proposals on the list of twelve was to introduce a new constitution after the forthcoming presidential election.
The Minister also said that the National Freedom Front decided to compete as a separate party for the Uva Provincial Council election as the committee which was assigned to implement the twelve propositions was inert from inception. The committee comprised of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Youth Affairs Minister Dullas Ahapapperuma.
“The committee handed over the written agreement only after we presented our nominations for Badulla District”, he said.
"Subsequently, " Weerawansa said, "the National Freedom Front decided to compete under the SLFP for the Moneragala District."
