Those responsible for the gas crisis should be hanged, Minister of State Dayasiri Jayasekara said.

The State Minister added that the people have to suffer the consequences of not doing so.

"There are several mistakes made by the government. One is the fertilizer problem. We went to do something good and now it has turned the other way. From next year we will have to eat Ponni Samba imported from India.

The Minister pointed out that Ponni Samba contained high chemical components compared to the rice produced in Sri Lanka.

The Minister also said that doctors who say that the use of chemical fertilizers causes kidney disease should consider the impact of consuming ponni samba imported from India
