The Director General of the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, the Director General of the Consumer Affairs Authority and the Secretary to the State Ministry of Consumer Protection have been summoned to appear before the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka.
According to a complaint lodged by several social activists, including the Sri Lanka Young Journalists' Association, seeking an inquiry into the negligence of government agencies regarding the problem with the domestic gas cylinders.
Complaints have been lodged seeking an order to mention the packaging date and contents of the gas cylinders as well as other items.
A number of gas-related explosions which took place in several parts of the country sparked a severe controversy over consumer protection in Sri Lana.
