If someone wants speedy justice for the victims of Easter Sunday attacks, we can do so by passing a new Act in Parliament to revoke the civic rights of those who were responsible, President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said.
“We have 2/3 majority in Parliament. We can certainly revoke their rights. This has been done in the past as well,” Rajapaksa said addressing a public gathering yesterday.
“So, when you make demands, do it carefully,” Rajapaksa said.
“Today, the opposition speaks as if they were never in power. They speak as if they have never held a ministerial position. We have followed to due process in relation to the Easter Sunday Attacks. The CID and the Attorney General’s Department are currently working on this matter,” the President added.
