Former SIS Chief Nilantha Jayawardena had informed the then Minister of Police Ranjith Madduma Bandara of the activities of terrorirst leader Zaharan Hashim and had recommended to arrest him, State Minister Kanchana Wijesekera.

The State Minister publicised some excerpts of the intelligence report that had been submitted by Jayawardena to Madduma Bandara a year before the attack which claimed nearly 300 lives.

Madduma Bandara is currently the General Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, the main opposition party.

"The statements that no one was informed about the attacks before it took place and that the Yahapalanaya Ministers were not informed and was not aware is completely false. Is the SJB still going to pass this to Maithripala Sirisena, Ranil Wickremesinghe and the current government?" Wijesekara asked.

The SJB General Secretary is yet to respond to the allegations levelled against him by the State Minister.
