The Samagi Jana Balawegaya today asked for the re-inclusion of Kusal Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella and Dhanushka Gunathilake in the national cricket team.

The three players were banned over a violation of the bio-secure bubble during a recent tour to England.

Raising a question in Parliament, SJB MP Lakshman Kiriella requested Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa to include the three players in the team despite the ban.

Kiriella said the Sri Lankan top openers had shown poor performance during the ICC T20 world cup and the banned players shoud be givena chance.

Responding to the question, Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa said they were banned from the game over a disciplinary issue and discipline is of paramount of importance.

"We all know what happened to your party without discipline," Rajapaksa said.

"The three players will be allowed to play domestic cricket and they will be considered for international selections after a year," the Sports Minister added.
