The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has decided to submit an interim report to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa regarding the investigations into former Deputy Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa and her husband Thirukumar Nadesan over the probe on the Pandora Papers.
The names of Rajapaksa and Nadesan were mentioned in the Pandora Papers which sent ripples across the Sri Lankan political cricles last month.
Thr Bribery Commission launched an investigation into the revelations made by the Pandora Papers following a directive from President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, a close relative of Nirupama Rajapaksa.
The Commission had reportedly studied Nadesan's bank accounts and documents obtained from government agencies. The businessman also made a lengthy statement before the Commission.
Meanwhile, the Commission has decided to obtain a statement from former MP Ranjan Ramanayake regarding the information revealed in the Pandora papers.
The imprisoned ex-parliamentarian recently requested permission through his lawyers to make a statement on the information revealed in the Pandora papers.
