SLPP General Secretary Sgara Kariyawasam said the party will make a special request to the President and the Prime Minister to take immediate action against Ministers Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila for violating the collective responsibility of the Cabinet.

He further stated that the decision to make this request was taken as the activities and behavior of the group posed a serious threat to the future of the government.

Kariyawasam said they have launched an attack on the government over the "yugadanavi issue" when Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa has given a clear assurance to the ruling party group meeting on the matter."The Finance Minister said no definiite agreement was signed and there was no reason to fear," the General Secretary added.

He further added that the Minister of Finance had stated at the meeting that the agreement would definitely be presented to the Cabinet."The Finance Minister has also asked all constituent parties to give their observations in writing," he said.

He added that there was a serious question and doubt as to who was behind the actions of this group.
