The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Joint Trade Union Alliance warned yesterday (27) that they would launch a continuous strike across the country if the government did not withdraw the Yugadanavi power plant agreement before the 3rd (Wednesday).
He said the strike date would be announced after November 03 and that no striking workers would return to work until the agreement was withdrawn.
The CEB National Employees Union, the CEB Joint Trade Union Alliance and the CEB Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya made this announcement at a media briefing held yesterday (27).
Convener of the CEB United Trade Union Alliance Ranjan Jayalal said that this would be a strike that would darken the entire country and challenged the government to hand over all power plants and work sites to the Army or their own henchmen, if possible.
He said even media institutions would be paralyzed due to the power outage, adding that there would also be a fuel crisis in the country by then.
