The post of Central Bank Governor has given Cabinet Minister statute.

The position has been included under the 5th rank of the Table of Precedence in Sri Lanka.

The CB Governor post now stands alongside the posts of Cabinet Minister, Opposition Leader and Field Marshal.

The move has been made soon after former State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabral was appointed the Governor of Central Bank.
