Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has directed Agriculture Ministry Secretary Uditha K. Jayasinghe today (26) to remove Senior Professor Buddhi Marambe of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, from all the posts he holds at the Ministry of Agriculture and the institutions under it.

Accordingly, Marambe will be removed from the post of Member of the National Agricultural Policy Planning Committee, Member of the Steering Committee of the Agricultural Innovation Project and Advisor to the Small Business Agri Participation Program with immediate effect.

Marambe will be removed from the posts on the basis that he criticised the organic fertiliser programme initiated by the government. Aluthgamage has informed the Ministry Secretary that the initiative was launched as per a policy decision made by the government.
