State Minister of Agriculture Shashindra Rajapaksa said that if an election is held tomorrow, the government will be defeated.

The Minister of State also said that the decision taken by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to use organic fertilizer instead of chemical fertilizer was not based on the opinion, "it doesn't matter if people are poisoned, I will win my election'.

Rajapaksa also said that it was a decision that is not made by political leaders focusing only on elections.

The Minister of State made these remarks while participating as the Chief Guest at the launching ceremony of the first batch of organic fertilizer for paddy cultivation in the Badulla District. Organic fertilizer was provided for 2000 hectares of paddy lands.

The Minister of State also said that only a handful of leaders had the gumption to make such decisions.

"As long as we are clean in our conscience, we will not hesitate to go on this journey irrespective of criticism directed at us," Rajapaksa added.
