A 31-year-old woman has given birth to sextuplets at a private hospital in Colombo.

This is the first time the birth of sextuplets has been succesffuly recorded in the country.

Three boys and three girl were born to the mother at a private hospital in Colombo.

Hospital staff said the births were conducted very successfuly.
