A Sri Lankan women's organization has submitted a letter to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission requesting immediate action to save children from online games.
The organisation called "Lakmawa Diyaniyo" has requested the TRC to ban online gaming to save children from its adverse impacts.
They handed over the letter this morning (14), said its national organizer Priyanga Kotelawala.
"The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission has a responsibility to intervene and save our children from this situation. Because they can block online video games. They can obstruct them and stop them from coming to our country. We urge the authorities to take immediate action. We cannot let our children - the future of our nation- destroy themselves," she said.
This came in the wake of a 16-year-old boy who was addicted to online games committig suicide in the Gungamuwa area in Raigama, Bandaragama recently.
