Teacher/Principal unions are to make an important decision today, in the wake of a 3-hour-long meeting with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday.
At the meeting, PM Rajapaksa promised teachers' salary anomaly issues would be resolved in three phases.
He said the first phase would begin in January next year, 2022, while the remaining two phases would be implemented in 2023.
The teacher/principal unions have been protesting since 12 July 2021 and have not yet indicated if they will accept the promises made yesterday.
They are expected to meet today and decide if they will accept the compromise offered by the government or if they will continue their protests.
