No Solution To Teachers' TU Struggle: Discussion Between Prime Minister And Teachers Unions Postponed

The discussion scheduled to be held today (11th) between Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the representatives of the Teachers 'and Principals' Trade Union Alliance has been postponed.

Joseph Stalin, General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers' Union, told media that they were informed via SMS that the discussion would not take place.

The Prime Minister's Office had informed the teachers unions about this discussion last Friday (08). The Secretary also said that an Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office had informed that a discussion had been scheduled with the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, in response to a statemet made by JVP Leader Anura Kumra Dissaayake, stated in Parliament that he was ready to discuss with teachers at any time.
