Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers' Union Joseph Stalin told the government to resolve the salary issues of teachers and principals before the commencement of schools later this month,
Addressing a media briefing held today (08) he stated that a solution is needed before the commencement of schools on October 21.
If the government fails to find a solution to its struggle,we will have to decide whether to allow the reopening of schools or not, he added..
"Today is the 89th day of the teacher-principal struggle. Principals of schools with less than 200 children have been asked to attend a discussion on the reopening of schools. We know that the govenment planning to start 21 schools. We propose to the government to work with all trade unions immediately before this process takes place," Stalin said during the press conference.
