Sri Lanka's first Test cricket captain Bandula Warnapura is currently undergoing treatment at the ICU of a private hospital in Colombo due to a sudden illness.
Sources close to him said Warnapura's left leg had been amputated due to an acute diabetes condition.
Warnapura was hospitalised a few days ago following cardiac arrest.
The 68-year-old former cricketer is currently the President of the Bloomfield Sports Club, Colombo. His cricket career was cut short due to a "rebel tour" in South Africa in 1982.
