Parliamentarian Diana Gamage said she was not aware of the decision made by the SJB to expel her from the party.
"I am the owner of the party and I am also a Deputy Secretary. How can they expel me?" Gamage asked when questioned by reporters about the SJB's decision.
"They haven't informed me anything about any such decision. However, I will continue to support the government and work with the ruling party," Gamage said.
The SJB yesterday decided to expel Gamage from the party over her decision to vote in favour of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.
SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said Gamage voted for the 20th Amendment defying a collective decision made as an opposition party.
Hence, the SJB's Disciplinary Committee conducted an inquiry into the National List MP and arrived at the decision to expel her.
