Constituent Party Leaders Of The Govt. Meet Trade Union Representatives To Discuss 'Yugadanavi' Agreement

Representatives of the constituent parties of the government held a discussion with a number of trade union leaders on the decision to hand over 40% of the Yugadanavi power plant to an American company.

The meeting was held at the SLFP headquarters at Darley Road, Colombo.

Former President Maithripala Sirisena, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Udaya Gammanpila, Prof. Tissa Vitarana, Dayasiri Jayasekara, Duminda Dissanayake, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Jayantha Samaraweera, Specialist Dr. G. Weerasinghe, Tiran Alles and Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero were also present.

Representatives of trade unions in the power, petroleum and port sectors, including the CEB Engineers' Association, also attended.

Trade union representatives warned the ruling party constituent partners that there could be severe trade union action if the goverment failed to reverse the decision.
