External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris has said that the documents pertaining to the Pandora revelations are not relevant to the Rajapaksa government as they are related to money collected during the 1990s and 2000s.
"The Government is of the view that a full investigation should be carried out into the matter," Peiris said addressing a press conference in Colombo today.
Periris said the information unearthed by Pandora PApers had nothing to do with the Rajapaksa administration which began in 2005.
Nirupama Rajapaksa and her husband, businessman Thiru Nadesam had close links to politics during the 90s. Rajapaksa first represented the People's Alliance during the presidency of Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and served as a Deputy Minister during Mahinda Rajapaksa's presidency.
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has directed the Bribery Commission to launch an investigation into the allegations and present him with a report in a month.
