Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says that he will extend his support to the farmers to go to the Supreme Court to seek compensation as they have not received the required fertilizer.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa today (03) inspected the Lunugamvehera farm lands to inquire into the problems of farmers suffering from lack of fertilizer.
"The government should be responsible for this. The government should pay compensation for the losses incurred by the farmers," said Sajith Premadasa.
However, Minister of State for Agriculture Shashindra Rajapaksa stated that discussions are underway with India to import the required organic fertilizer for the upcoming Maha season.
"We were hoping to import enough organic fertilizer. Although we could not import it from China, now the Indian government is cooperating with us,"Rajapaksa added.
