The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) alleges that the Ministry of Health does not have a practical plan to replace the annual posts of specialist doctors.
The transfer list of specialist doctors was released on July 30 after a nine-month delay, but it is not being implemented in practice, said the Secretary of the Government Medical Officers' Association, Dr. Senal Fernando.
He also says that many of the transferred specialists have not moved to their new workplaces.
The GMOA spokesman said that due to the shortage of surgeons at the Mullaitivu District Hospital, the operation of the hospital has come to a complete standstill.
He also stated that the hospital directors have not accepted the orders of the Health Secretary.
