Samagi Jana Balawegaya lawmaker Dr Harsha De Silva has hit out at the govt. asking why those who expose corruption are being hauled up and questioned by Police.
In a tweet, the MP said, 'At the CID this morning with Manusha Nanayakkara who’s summoned to on statements he made on NMRA drug data scam. Hell of a situation. It’s the people who expose these or newspaper editors who write about corruption who are getting hauled to #SriLanka police.'
Recently, a number of journalists and editors were also questioned by the CID relating to exposes they had made about the garlic scam. Many have observed that questioning the journalists who reported on the scam was aimed at intimidating them.
The manner in which the CID proceeded with the "Garlic Fraud" investogation has come under severe criticism from some prominent members within the ruling camp including Media Minister Dullas Alahapperuma.
