Sri Lanka Receives More Consignments Of Pfizer As Health Authorities Set To Proceed With Booster Shots For Selected Groups

Another consignment of Pfizer vaccine was brought to the island this morning (30).

The Minister of State Prof. Channa Jayasumana stated that 400,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine donated by the World Health Organization (WHO) to Sri Lanka have been brought to Sri Lanka this morning and another 400,000 doses will be received tomorrow (01).

Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardena said approval has been granted to administer Pfizer as a booster shot for those over 60, those between 30-60 with chronic illnesses, health workers and frontline workers

According to him, those with cancer and kidney diseases, alongside persons who have undergone surgeries will be administered a third dose.
