Royal Bakery Wellawatte, which recently featured in an unsavoury incident in which a rat seated behind the counter was filmed by a customer has denied the incident occurred at its premises.

On an Instagram profile the Bakery published the following statement: 'we at the Royal Bakery have come across footage and content made in aid to Tarnish the Goodwill and Image of Royal Bakery. We have informed the relevant authorities in the Cybercrimes Division to take necessary measures in due course and nab the culprits for this act of defamation.'

Two videos surfaced on social media in last week, one in which the rat was spotted and another in which a customer can be seen returning bread that he claims has been eaten by a rat.

In both the videos, the location was identified very clearly by the people who took the videos. Additionally, those who are familiar with the Bakery attest to the fact that the premises are the same.
