Parliamentary administration has decided to conduct another round of random Antigen tests for MPs and parliamentary staff on the 4th of this month.
In addition, security officers and journalists covering Parliament will also be subjected to these tests, said Serjeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando.
These tests will be conducted from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon on October 04.
Over 20 Parliamentarians, a number of parliamentary staff members and security officers tested positive for COVID19 during the fourth wave of the pandemic which broke out following the Sinhala-Tamil New Year. The latest MP to get infected was SLPP MP Chandima Weerakkody who is currently under treatment.
Several rounds of Rapid Antigen tests have been conducted in Parliament before.
