The SLPP has delayed taking action against State Minister Lohan Ratwatte who was at the centre of a controversy last over over his erratic behavior.
Speaking to the media, SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam said the party would only take a decision on Ratwatte after studying the reports of the investigative bodies looking into the matter.
"We will study those reports and make a decision," Kariywasam said, when asked about the matter.
However, many groups have requested the ruling party to suspend Ratwatte from holding any position in the government until the conclusion of the investigations.
Justice Minister Ali Sabri recently appointed a five-member panel of inquiry headed by retired Supreme Court Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena to investigate the case involving Lohan Ratwatte.
It is learned that the Board of Inquiry has already commenced the investigation.
Lohan Ratwatte has been accused of entering the Welikada Prison on the 12th and the Anuradhapura Prison on the 6th with a group of his friends.
Lohan Ratwatte resigned from the post of Minister of State for Prisons on the 15th following the publication of information regarding the incidents.
