Former CAA Executive Director Who Revealed Serious Cases Of Corruption At Sathosa Now Facing Threats

Thushan Gunawardena, who recently resigned as the Executive Director of the Consumer Affairs Authority, has been receiving various threats over the phone.

When contacted by media, Gunawardena said that various threats were being made to his mobile phone through WhatsApp messages.

The former Executive Director said he had lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department with regard to the threats.

Gunawardena also stated that he intended to meet the President soon and present his evidence regarding serious cases of corruption, fraud and misappropriation at Sathosa. "I am awaiting an appointment from the President," he said.

Gunawardena said that he had a number of files containing information on a number of scams and that more than Rs. 3 million was spent per month on tea at Sathosa institutions alone.

He also questioned the decision to rent a large number of vehicles for Sathosa while a large number of CWE vehicles were parked idle in vehicle yards.
