Mrs. Sri Lanka title holder Pushpika de Silva categorically denied claims that she visited the Welikada prison with State Minister Lohan Ratwatte.
"I only met him during the last presidential election campaign. I met many people involved in the political sphere during that period. There is no special connection between us," De Silva said.
Speaking to an online interview, she said she was unaware as to how her name got dragged into a controversy involving the State Minister.
De Silva said she never spoke to the State Minister about the incident. She also added that she was never the "type of woman" to have intimate connections with powerful men.
Ratwatte, however, has resigned from one of his state ministerial portfolios in the wake of the incident.
