Paddy Marketing Board Chairman Dr Jatal Mannapperuma has stepped down from his post with immediate effect.

Mannapperuma stated that he had sent letter of resignation via email to Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage.

The former Chairman said he was unhappy with "unwise decisions made by upper management.”

A number of senior officials who served in various capacities in the current administrations have stepped down from their positions in the recent past.
