State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal handed over his resignation letter from the post of MP to the Secretary General of Parliament, a short while ago.

Cabraal resigned from his parliamentary seat to become the Governor of the Central Bank replacing Prof. W.D. Lakshman.

The State Minister engaged in religious rituals in Anuradhapura before handing over his letter of resignation.

He is set to assume office as the Governor of Central Bank this week.
