Prof. Lakshman To Retire From Central Bank Governorship On September 14 Making Way For Cabral

Central Bank Governor Prof. W.D. Lakshman will retire from office on September 14.

Lakshman was appointed to the post after President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa assumed office.

The Central Bank Governor said he had received an offer from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) but would not pursue this lucrative opportunity.

Meanwhile, State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabral is tipped to be appointed the new Governor of Central Bank.

Cabral is expected to resign from Parliament to take up the new post.
