Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama's resignaion from the the Covid Prevention Technical Committee has sparked a serious controversy over blatant politicization of the pandemic management, informed health sources said.

Wijewickrama is one of most senior Consultant Physicians in the country and he plays a pivotal role at the IDH.

Wijewickrama resigned from the post due to his strong differences of opinion with the committee and the overall pandemic management of the country.

He said some of the decisions made by the committee have been altered due to political reasons.

The Doctor had pointed out that his continuation as a member of the committee would make him responsibe for the 'damage' they may cause through errorneous decisions.
