A Sri Lankan man was shot dead in New Zealand after he stabbed 6 people in a supermarket.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Adern said the alleged terrorist arrived in New Zealand in 2011, became person of national security interest from 2016, and was inspired by Islamic State ideology.
Arden said the alleged terrorist was a "lone wolf".
"What happened today was despicable. It was hateful, it was wrong. It was carried out by an individual, not a faith, not a culture, not an ethnicity but an individual person who is gripped by ideology that is not supported here by anyone in the community," she stated.
